Engineer and senior manager, with over 24 years of experience in practice and research in Civil Engineer complemented with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management, high leadership skills, project management and strategic planning. As president of the organizing committee, was responsible for several scientific events, namely the 10th National Congress of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering, the 16th National Geotechnical Congress, the 6th Portuguese-Spanish Geotechnical Conference and the International Workshop on Natural Hazards. Board member of the Portuguese Seismic Engineer Society, the Portuguese Geotechnical Society and of the Fund for the Development of Construction Sciences. He has been a driver of circularity in the construction sector, through the Rebuild17, LREC + Sustainable and Use&Abuse projects, the Endogenous Materials Catalogue and the “How to Build an Island” exhibit. Professional experience in the private sector in all areas of civil engineering from design, planning, budgeting and construction management, combined with experience in the public sector as director of the Regional Laboratory of Civil Engineering in Azores, since 2021, allowing him to consolidate a comprehensive, resilient and sustainable vision for current challenges and futures.
