As Director of Reloop Americas, an NGO focused on advancing circular packaging, Elizabeth Balkan brings over a decade of strategy and public policy experience. She has worked directly with municipalities to implement complex operational programs seeking to align environmental and economic priorities. While working in New York City government, both at the Department of Sanitation and the Mayor’s Office, Balkan successfully orchestrated legislative initiatives at the city and state level. Before that, Balkan had a private consultancy, working with international NGOs and the private sector; and spent almost a decade living and working in China. Balkan has been named a “40 Under 40” food policy leader in New York and is an adjunct in the Food and Nutrition Studies Graduate Program at NYU. She lives with her family in Brooklyn, New York.
