Dr. Vanessa Ushie

Division Manager - Policy Analysis, African Natural Resources, Centre African Development Bank Group

Dr. Vanessa Ushie is Manager of the Policy Analysis Division in the African Natural Resources Centre of the AfDB, where she leads the policy and economic analysis on natural resource management. She has worked for over 20 years on natural resources policy and sustainable development. Vanessa was previously an Advisor on Mineral Sector Governance at the African Minerals Development Centre (AMDC), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and also led Oxfam’s Pan-Africa extractive industries programme. Before that, she was a Helleiner Fellow at the North-South Institute in Ottawa, Canada. She also served as Director of Institutional Advancement and Head of the Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Thematic Area, and Director of Research, at the Centre for the Study of the Economies of Africa (CSEA) Abuja, Nigeria. Vanessa holds a PhD in Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
